"Small but Significant"
Rockland Community Church
We seek to fulfill the Great Commission given by Jesus to his disciples (that’s us too!)
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20).
We seek to do this by living out the Great Commandment also given by Jesus to his disciples.
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22: 36-40)
What this will look like in the life of Rockland Community Church and the individuals who are a part of our church will likely change over time. Our hope is that we will all come to recognize that the mission that Jesus gave us is of great value and that we each have a valuable role to play in carrying it out God has gifted each person uniquely and we believe that every person (regardless of how young or old they are) has a valuable role to play. We want to become a church that encourages each person to use their passions, abilities, gifts, and experiences to the fullest extent possible. We want to equip them and empower them for service, not only in this little church, but in the Kingdom of God that also exists outside our walls.
We have a desire to fellowship with and work with other churches in our area so that our efforts might be multiplied and so that the world around us will see Christian unity displayed not only within our church but around neighboring churches. In fact, if you visit Rockland Community Church and determine that we aren’t what you are looking for, we’d be more than happy to point you to other churches in our area that may fit your needs better.
